The Grey Roost

Safe Plants & Trees

Following is a list of House and outdoor plants & trees which are CONSIDERED SAFE for our Greys. It has been gathered from several sources, and is provided strictly as a service. I assume no liabilities, implied or otherwise. This is not medical advice. Check with avian experts for accuracy and applicability to your particular situation. We need to be aware of what is safe and what can be toxic for our Greys. In some cases, only certain parts of a plant are dangerous, while with others, ALL parts post a threat. Often, plants will be listed "safe" on one list and "toxic" on another. If you find a plant listed differently and can't determine that it's only part of the plant that is toxic, than it is advised to err on the side of caution and consider all of it toxic.

Note: Nothing is safe if toxic chemicals or insecticides have been sprayed on them. Before installing them in any cage, scrub all branches with a non-toxic disinfectant (such as diluted chlorine bleach) then rinse and dry well.
