Reverse Osmosis(RO) Water

Reverse Osmosis is the finest filtration known, able to remove particles the size of ions from our water. It is the process by which water molecules are forced through a series of filters by water pressure. That means that, the fluid is allowed to pass through it, while the contaminants remain. The Filters are made up of a membrane which is rolled up around a hollow central tube in a spiral fashion. Water is then forced through the series of filters separating it from any unwanted substances. First a sediment filter to trap particles like rust and calcium carbonate, then a second sediment filter with smaller pores, then through an activated carbon filter to trap organic chemicals and chlorine, and finally into a holding tank. A UV light can be added to the RO System to disinfect filtered water at a certain flow rate. Bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms are destroyed by the UV interfering with the DNA and RNA in the organisms' reproductive cycles Typically, about 75% or more of the original water gets discarded together with the contaminants. For every 5 gallons of purified RO water, a typical residential reverse osmosis filter will automatically divert around 10 - 20 gallons of water and the substances left behind to a waste drain. This is the Purest form of water available and often used in hospitals with certain medical treatments.
